DAY 25

All of the animes are right.
Don't tell a girl that she's kakkoii.
Tell her she's kawaii instead.
It's for the best.

Today was so freaken crazy.

It was our last day trip for the program.
The day trip was for Kamakura, a destination around an hour away from Nishi-kasai.

We were to meet down in the lobby at 9 AM, which was a nice change from most of the other day trips, which made us get up and meet at 8 AM.

I ate breakfast as quickly as I could and was very happy to see Kengo and Miyu and Ikumi again.
I saw two other girls too, but I wasn't sure if they were part of our group.

Our trip would be a very complicated one, as we would have to switch lines a lot.

We got on the Tozai Line, obviously.
I saw those two girls again, and I asked Nathan if they were part of our group.
He thought so.
There was a good chance that they were so I asked them if they were with us.
They both said yes.
So I tried to talk to them.
I introduced myself to them and told them they were kakkoii because they had freaken awesome hair.
One of them said to me something like, "Ah, really, you think so?" in Japanese, and I nodded.
There wasn't really much to say after that.

We kept switching lines until we ended up on the JR straight to Kamakura.

I talked with Kengo and Miyu a SHITLOAD.
We pretty much were just fucking around and telling jokes to each other and making each other laugh.
At one point, Kengo and I had a staring contest.  He's the best that I've fought against so far.
Kengo also tried using my camera.
He took this picture:

I returned the favor and took this picture of them:

It was a fun train ride, to say the least.

We finally arrived in Kamakura!

We were all gathered around the station exit.
Guess who joined us at this point?

MOTHERFUCKING KIYOTO-SAN!!!

I luv this guy.

I talked with him some more on the walk towards the shrine/temple (which was a 15 min walk from the station).  He's a cool guy, but the language barrier is a real problem when communicating with him.

We got to the place.  I don't remember what the name of the place was, honestly.  I was just in it for the sights.

Yeah, there was a triforce on the ticket.
There were triforces EVERYWHERE in this place.

Meanwhile, the two other girls were traveling along with us, mostly keeping to themselves and conversing with themselves.  It was kind of hard to approach them.

Kanno-san was leading us around different destinations of the temple/shrine and we were looking at different buildings.

Like I said, there were triforces everywhere.

And MOAR stuffs.

On the way out, I saw this very curious sign.

Then we walked to a street area where we would be able to get lunch.

Most of us went to go get some soba/udon.
I sat at a table with Kengo.

He does a very good Yagami Light impression, even when he doesn't mean to.

I also drew him a picture of how I think he looks like.
It worked out pretty well.

LOL

I got a tempura soba set.
Awesome.

After lunch we went on a train to go see the GIANT BUDDHA.

Nathan was playing Jubeat on an Iphone.
He's seriously addicted to that game.

We have an ongoing joke in our group that Teresa can never have a good picture and the rest of her pictures contain, what we call, her "derp face".
This one was a pretty good one though.

The place had a thing to wash yourself and cleanse your soul.
As with most places like this.

This Buddha was HUUUUGGEEE.

Although it looks kind of small since it was further away when I took the pictures.

We kind of just hung around the place for a little while.

And I tried to take more derp pictures of Teresa.
She ended up giving me a pissed off face.

After we all gathered up again, there was a vote.
We were ahead of schedule.
The choices for the next thing to do were:
1) Go to another temple
2) Go back home
3) Go to the beach

Take a wild guess which one we chose.
I should add, the whole day was fucking hot.

It took a little while to get to the beach.
But when we got there, it was glorious.

Lots of people wanted to go in the water.
I didn't because I had my camera on me, and I don't like the feeling of wet sand sticking to my feet.

I stayed behind with some of the others.

The two girls (the two on the left in the above picture) were also just hanging out on the sand.
I tried talking to them again, and again I proved my theory that you just gotta talk to them first and they'll open up to you right away.
I think they both had a pretty good understanding of English because it seemed like we could keep a good conversationish thing up.

Then I invited everyone to come over nearer to the shore.

I wrote my name in katakana on the sand.

And then I realized I didn't know what either of the girls' names were.
So I asked them.

One of them used my name to spell hers out.
She was Maki.
Then she spelled out the other girl's name on the side.
The other girl's name was Rina.

Just for reference, Maki is the one with hair like this:

And Rina was the one with hair like this:

Their hair was fucking cool.

Also, Maki had like 5 piercings on one ear.  WTH

Valerie and Teresa were talking to them a lot after that and they got super crazy, going on some insane touching spree.
For some reason they were really obsessed with touching people's stomachs.
Er, I should say poking.

After around 30-40 minutes on the beach we went back because we had a dinner appointment with Professor Hall.  How cool is that?

So we had to take the train back.  The group would then split up into people that wanted to go home and people that were going to dinner.  Kengo and Miyu were going to go with us to dinner, too.

Same sort of process, but reversed.
Just getting on trains, and switching lines.

Some people got a hold of my camera and took their own pictures.

Also, I talked more with Maki and Rina.
I told them again that they were kakkoii people, referring to their hair.
Rina turned to Maki and said in Japanese, "Ehhh, that doesn't really make me happy...I wanna be called cute."
So I told them that they were also kawaii and they smiled really big and accepted the compliment.
Anime gives you life lessons so take notes.

I also showed them the pictures that I took on the beach.
They were really fascinated at them and enjoyed looking through them.
They tried taking pictures on their phone of the LCD screen on my camera and I told them that I could just send it to them.
It turned out that they both had Facebook so I told them to write down the name that they use for Facebook.

Why do girls put hearts around everything?

Also, later on, Rina sat on Shunya and Maki sat on Teresa for a majority of the trip.
It was actually pretty damn funny.

I finally caught sleeping pics of the people that I hadn't gotten yet.

Miyu

Ikumi

Nathan and Demetri

Lali took this sniper shot of Maaike

How the hell does this even work?

Soon we were at the end of the JR line, and this is where Maki and Rina split off with us.
Ikumi disappeared too, but silently.

This was around the point where the actual UC group would split up into who wanted to go back to the hotel and who wanted to get dinner with Prof. Hall.

Those who wanted to ended up in a curious town, that I forgot the name of.

We met up with Prof. Hall here and he took us through the streets in the most confusing way (on purpose) to get to an Okinawan restaurant.

It was a "sit your ass on the floor" style restaurant, which sucks cuz I can't sit down like that for a long time, and we were there for a long time.

LOL @ Kanno-san

These are some of the foods that we got, but others (not pictured) were a lot crazier and most were actually quite good.

Other things included sea grapes, pig hooves, pig ear cartilage, shittake mushroom wrapped in bacon, fried rice, and yam ice cream.

Everything was really good.

But the fun part about this dinner was the alcohol.

I didn't drink but most everyone did. And things just got super crazy.
People were yelling at each other, dancing, and singing.  All sorts of drunk behavior.
Kengo and Miyu were astounded at how much our group could drink.

LOL I love Kanno-san

Eventually, through peer pressure, people got Kengo to drink some shots of sochu.  Even though he doesn't like drinking.
He took it so harshly that he banged his head on the wall when he swallowed his shot LOL.
And many laughs were had into the night.

People wanted Miyu to drink but she couldn't because she was underage (19).

So more drinks for everyone, including Kengo.

Shunya was drunk as fuck.  It was damn funny.

After what seemed like 2 or 3 hours, we got out of the place.
And headed back to the train station.

We got to the train station and took the train to Nakano.
Our group got off, and something happened that I'll never forget.
Kengo and Miyu stayed on board and waved goodbye to us.
We were all really sad that we had to split up and we waved goodbye back and yelled our farewells to them.
As the doors were closing, Miyu yelled, "This is the last time I can see you guys! Goodbye!"
We all watched in disbelief as the doors closed and they waved with great intensity at us.
Some of us yelled back for them not to leave.
As the train sped off, we couldn't do anything but watch them slowly gain distance.

It was a very sombering moment as our trip comes to a close.
These two were like the best friends I've made In Japan.
We've shared a lot of cool things, told jokes to each other, and experienced a lot of nice places.
I'll never forget them.
Ever.
How can I?
I even have their Facebooks so I can keep in contact with them.

A long train ride back to Nishi-kasai followed.
And I got back to write this and send pics to Rina and Maki and upload all the other pics.

By this time next week, this trip will have been over.
And that makes me really sad.
