It's starting to be like the days in Irvine where I would be reluctant to wake up for class.
Although, can you blame me?
There's no more late class (=[ ).
Every single class from this day forward is at 9 AM.
So today was our transition class from anime to manga.
It was quite the catch.
We watched a short film that looked EXACTLY like the music video to Agitated Screams of Maggots.
Threw me off.
Apparently some people within the group set up a meeting with a couple of the Jikei students.
We were going to go bowling.
One of them was waiting at the station for us to take us there.
His name was Kengo.
This is what he looks like.
I'll talk about him a little later.
He's a cool dude.
It was me, Kevin, Eric, Josh, Nathan, Maaike, Alison, Lali, Shunya, and Kengo-SAN.
We took the train one stop and walked a while until we got to Round 1 (yeah, I guess they have those here).
The other Japanese student, Miyu, arrived later. Sorry I don't have a picture of her. Although I might in one of the posts where we went to karaoke after welcome dinner, cuz she was there with us. Oh yeah, Kengo was too, I totally forgot.
Anyways.
We went BOWLING!
It was one of the biggest bowling alleys I've seen.
I think it was like 50 lanes across.
While Kengo was getting everything straightened out, I took a little look around the area.
LOL.
This thing was actually pretty efficient for just getting shoes, although the sizes were hard to tell. Since they were in cm.
And this...just lol.
It's been a while since I bowled.
We had two lanes for all of us.
My side was (in order of bowling) Shunya, Eric, me, Kevin, Alison.
We had to write our names in katakana.
Pretty much, on my side at least, the boys were doing pretty well and the girls were kind of meh at bowling.
These were the scores for the first game:
I'm a beast.
The second game was less fortunate:
For some reason, I scored the exact same, but Eric beat me by one point.
And for that, he gets the middle finger salute.
This is what happened.
I was already at 111 by the time Eric had his last turn and his score was 112.
He just told me that all I had to do was knock down 1 pin to tie and 2 to beat him.
Hearing that made me choke up and I guttered twice.
Check the scoreboard.
It was bullshit.
Anyways.
We only played two games.
It was kind of expensive so we didn't wanna spend moar moneys.
Upon returning shoes and paying (yeah you pay after bowling here), we each recieved two things.
The first thing we got was a free little cellphone charm of a random Hello Kitty on a bowling pin.
I got the blue one with a seal.
The second thing we got was a free pass to try the UFO catchers once.
So we all went one floor down to the UFO/arcade area to get our free tries.
Most of us failed.
A couple of us got stuff.
Kevin was being a dumbass and trying to shake the machines.
He actually got some food that way.
But we ran away when he did it cuz we didn't wanna be associated with him.
After all of us used up our tries, Miyu wanted to do one of those sticker picture machines.
It was a real bitch trying to fit all of us in one booth and most of us were cut off anyways.
Sorry I don't have the pics.
It took fucken forever to get the pics out cuz the girls were huddled around the machine customizing shit.
You already know how it is.
Miyu kind of took off without saying much, I think cuz she had work.
So afterwards we all left the place with Kengo.
We were all pretty damn hungry so we decided to go eat sushi.
Kengo knew a place in Kasai that had good sushi so we followed him.
During this time, I got to talk to Kengo a lot.
He knew pretty ok English, which made conversation a little easier.
This is what I got out of him:
- He watches some anime, but mostly the popular ones like Pokemon, Shin-chan, Doraemon, etc.
- He likes J-pop and some J-rock.
- He doesn't like cockroaches.
- He likes steak and shrimp and sushi.
- He plays Smash Bros and uses Zelda/Shiek, Wolf, and Lucas.
- He doesn't really play Street Fighter =[
- His school is cool.
- He has a girlfriend (obviously, he's freaken good looking, but I just had to ask). And it's not Miyu.
- He commutes 1 hour to school on the train (one of his friends does 3, holy shit).
- His favorite place in Tokyo is Disneyland.
- He also happens to be the first (hopefully not only) person here that I've added on FB.
- He's studying to become a scuba diver, and Miyu wants to be a dolphin trainer.
So we had walked all the way back to the train station and took it to Kasai.
But when we finally walked up...
...it was closed.
Kevin was losing his shit and yelling at the building (it was the 3rd time a place had closed on him when he wanted to eat).
lol.
Kengo then recommended an Italian restaurant not too far from there.
We all went.
It was pretty good, but the portions were pretty small, which threw us off, especially Josh, since he eats the most.
We decided to walk back to Kasai and I talked to Kengo a little more.
He's a friendly guy.
I get the feeling that a lot of these students are really cool people, but we just gotta talk to them first, cuz most of them won't really take the first step to approach us. They're a tad shy.
So I got back to the hotel.
Demetri and I talked for a little, and then he went to sleep cuz he's waaay behind on sleep.
I couldn't really do anything in the room while he was sleeping so I went to Nathan and Josh's room, where Eric, Kevin, and Maaike were.
We had Tetris DS battles and Mario Kart battles.
Kevin left us and the rest of the night until 1 AM was us talking about anime and other random shit.
I watched Nathan play the beginning of the Clannad game.
We watched Suicide Club clips.
Discussed anime.
Watched TV.
Shared stories.
Good times.
Also, Kengo invited me and others over FB to play with fireworks this Friday with Miyu!
That makes me happy!
