We had our Tokyo class today, and it was interesting cuz we saw a bunch of short animations highlighting the city life in Tokyo.
I couldn't find any on Youtube when I got back though, what a shame, some of them were really good.
We got out and several of us went to meet Ikumi-san and Mana-san at the Nishi-kasai station.
It was me, Josh, Nathan, Eric, Demetri, Shunya, Lauren, Cheryl, Maaike, Teresa, and Lali.
It was one station over, but quite a bit of walking.
We were going to a sushi place.
It was called Sushi-ro. At least that's what I could read from the Katakana.
It was a pretty big place.
Our group split into two tables.
Six in one and seven in the other.
One Japanese student per table.
I was in a table with Ikumi, Josh, Lauren, Lali, Cheryl, and Teresa.
This was my first time eating sushi.
So I didn't really know what to expect.
Oh yeah, it was a conveyor belt kind of place.
I was really hesitant.
As most of you know, I hate seafood.
But this is Japan, and I figured if I was ever gonna eat seafood, it was gonna be here.
All of us ordered things via touchscreen and it came to us through the conveyor belt.
As I was being a hesitant little bitch, everyone ordered whatever they wanted.
I kind of just sat there.
Finally I decided to go with something safe.
I told Ikumi that I would like a salmon one.
Ikumi was ordering for all of us on the touch screen since it was all in Japanese.
After a little, it came along on the conveyor belt.
I popped that shiet in my mouth with a little soy sauce.
What have I been missing this whole time?
Absolutely wonderful.
And then came the flood of my orders.
I ordered tuna, shrimp, tempura shrimp, more salmon, salmon with wasabi, tuna with wasabi, flounder, and more tempura.
Here's the tuna one.
By the end of the sushi session, I had a stack of 11 plates. I didn't wanna do any more than that cuz 11 plates already cost 1155 yen. But WORTH IT.
Oh by the way, funny story.
Josh and Lali thought it would be a good idea to order natto.
Ikumi hinted at them that it was bad and that she didn't like it.
But they still ordered it.
Josh ate his.
Lali kept hers in her mouth and motioned for a cup or napkin and then tried to ask where the bathroom was and left.
She came back later and apparently she threw up every piece of sushi she had so far.
Natto is THAT BAD.
Take notes.
Josh just quickly swallowed his with tea and he also agreed that it was damn bad.
Each plate was 105 yen (if you didn't get desert or any extra shizzles), so I had to pay 1155.
It was really good though, and worth it.
First sushi in Japan! How it should be.
Anyways.
I'm gonna cut off here.
We have a midterm tomorrow, but Professor Hall said it would be chill and nothing to worry about.
So I have to do a couple of readings here and there.
Also, we get to see Kengo and Miyu again tomorrow!
If things work out...
